What Lo FL means
Lo FL, like F8 E1, means a Whirlpool front-load washer from the Duet and WFW family is not detecting the correct amount of incoming water. The door may be locked and the control may seem unresponsive. Pressing Power starts a drain routine that runs the pump continuously for about 8 to 10 minutes, during which the control accepts no input, so wait ten minutes before trying anything. Models such as the WFW5620HW and WFW9150WW show it this way.
Common causes of Lo FL
- Either faucet closed or only partly opened
- Inlet hose kinked or connected to the wrong inlet
- Screens at the inlet clogged
- Inlet valve or water level sensing circuit
1. Press Power once and wait a full 10 minutes while the washer runs its drain routine. 2. Confirm both faucets are fully open and both inlet hoses are connected. 3. Check that neither hose is kinked, and that the hot (red) hose is on the hot inlet. 4. Try a short cycle. If Lo FL returns, schedule service.
- If the supply is strong and the hoses are right, the inlet valve or the level sensing becomes the question.
- Older Duet washers are still common. We repair them, and we tell you plainly if the repair no longer pays off.
- We measure the incoming flow before quoting a part.
Other Washer codes
Why is my washer unresponsive with Lo FL on?
The control is running a drain routine and ignores the keys for 8 to 10 minutes. The door may stay locked. Waiting the full ten minutes is the correct first step.
Is Lo FL the same as FH?
They are related but not the same. Lo FL says the incoming water amount is wrong, while FH says the water supply is absent or insufficient. We check the faucets, hoses and screens for both.
Do I need to reverse any hoses?
Only if they are connected to the wrong inlets. The hot hose, usually red, goes to the hot inlet, and the cold hose, usually blue, to the cold inlet. Otherwise leave the connections alone.
