Why is my dehumidifier running but collecting no water?
A dirty coil, a failed fan, a low refrigerant charge or a humidity sensor that reads wrong can stop it. A very cool room can also freeze the coil. We check airflow and the coil first, then the sensor and the sealed system.
Why does my dehumidifier freeze up?
Cool rooms, a dirty filter or restricted airflow can let the coil drop below freezing and ice over. Turn it off, let it thaw and clean the filter. If it ices again in a normal room, the sensor or the charge may need testing.
Is repair worth it on an older dehumidifier?
Sometimes. A fan, a float switch or a sensor is usually a sensible repair. A failed sealed system on a low-cost unit generally is not. We explain what we found and whether replacement is the practical choice.
