What Done Light On means
The Done light on a Whirlpool top-load HE washer, the Cabrio and WTW style such as the WTW5000DW, WTW5105HW, WTW7500GC or WTW8500DC, tells you the wash cycle has finished. These are older models still found in many Houston homes. The light keeps glowing until one of two things happens: you open the lid or you push the power button. It is a status signal rather than an error, so a lit Done light with a finished load needs no repair.
Common causes of Done Light On
- Wash cycle completed normally
- Lid not opened since the cycle ended
- Power button not pressed since the cycle ended
- Load left sitting after the cycle
1. Open the lid, which turns the Done light off. 2. Or push the power button to clear it. 3. Take the finished load out. 4. Leave the lid up for a while to air out the drum. 5. If the light comes on before the cycle should have ended, note which cycle you ran.
- A light that shows up at the end of a normal cycle needs no repair
- If the cycle ends early or the light stays on after the lid opens, we test the lid switch and control
- We quote in writing first and tell you plainly when an older washer is not worth fixing

Is the Done light a problem?
No. It simply means the wash cycle has finished and the load is ready to come out. It stays lit until you open the lid or push the power button, which is normal.
Why does it stay on?
It is designed to keep glowing until you open the lid or push the power button, so you know the load is waiting. If it comes on at the wrong time, we can test the washer.
