What F3E4 means

On a Whirlpool all-in-one washer-dryer such as the WFC8090GX, F3E4 points to the sensor that reads the detergent level in the Load & Go bulk dispenser, and a clog in that dispenser is a likely cause. On a laundry tower or stacked laundry center, the washer section uses F3E4 for the motor sensor instead, so the same characters point to a different circuit. You will see the code on the display, and the cycle may stop or detergent may not be dosed.

Common causes of F3E4

  • Clogged or dirty bulk detergent dispenser on an all-in-one unit
  • Detergent level sensor reading
  • Motor sensor circuit on a laundry tower
✓ One safe check you can try

1. On an all-in-one unit, clean the Load & Go bulk dispenser as your owner's manual describes, or add detergent by hand until it is clean. 2. Unplug the washer for 5 minutes, then plug it back in. 3. On a laundry tower, only the power reset applies. 4. If F3E4 returns, schedule service.

! Why to stop there
  • Cleaning does not confirm the sensor reads correctly afterward.
  • On a tower, a motor sensor code needs the drive circuit read, not guessed at.
  • Any repair is quoted in writing, after we know whether the dispenser or the motor circuit is involved.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
F3E4F3E4 questions
Is F3E4 a motor problem?

Only on a laundry tower, where the washer section ties it to the motor sensor. On an all-in-one washer-dryer it relates to the detergent level sensor in the bulk dispenser, which is a much simpler thing to check first.

Can I keep washing if the bulk dispenser triggers F3E4?

You can add detergent manually while the dispenser is dirty. Clean the dispenser, reset the power, and if the code remains we check the sensor and its wiring rather than replacing parts on a guess.

How long should the power reset take?

Leave the washer unplugged for at least 5 minutes before plugging it back in. If F3E4 returns after that, a reset will not clear it and the circuit needs a proper look, which we quote in writing first.
