What Door Open means
Door Open is a blinking symbol on some Whirlpool washers, in guidance that does not name a series. It means the door cannot lock. Something may be in the way, such as a piece of clothing caught in the opening or soap residue around the latch. Pressing firmly on the door near the door lock often lets it close properly. Until the door locks, the washer will not run its cycle, and you will see the symbol blinking on the display.
Common causes of Door Open
- Clothing caught between the door and the washer
- Soap residue around the door lock
- Door not pressed fully closed
- Door lock not responding
1. Check that nothing is blocking the door, such as clothing or soap residue. 2. Firmly press the door in the area of the door lock. 3. Touch Start/Pause. 4. If the symbol stays, touch and hold Power for at least three seconds. 5. Run the cycle again.
- A clear door and a firm press rule out the common causes
- If the symbol keeps blinking, we test the door lock and its circuit
- The price is quoted in writing first, and we back our repairs for 30 days on workmanship
