What F3E3 means
F3E3 appears on three Whirlpool washer types. On an all-in-one washer-dryer such as the WFC8090GX, it points to the air inlet function: washing still works, but drying will not run. On a laundry tower, the washer section reports the water inlet temperature sensor. On an older top-load HE washer (Cabrio or WTW series with display or blink codes), the only guidance is a power reset and no part is named. That older top-load is still in many homes, and we repair it.
Common causes of F3E3
- Air inlet circuit on an all-in-one washer-dryer
- Water inlet temperature sensor on a laundry tower
- Control reading on an older top-load washer
1. Pull the plug, wait at least 5 minutes, and plug the washer back in. 2. On a laundry tower, confirm hot is on hot and cold is on cold. 3. Check that both water valves are fully open. 4. On an all-in-one unit, wash cycles may still run while drying will not. 5. If F3E3 returns, schedule service.
- The reset leaves it unclear whether the sensor, wiring or control is behind the code.
- We check the inlet temperature or air path readings for your platform.
- On an older top-load we say plainly if a repair is not worth it.
Other Washer codes
Can I still wash with F3E3 on an all-in-one washer-dryer?
The wash function should run, but the dry function will not. Use the unit as a washer only until we check the air inlet circuit, and tell us exactly which cycles still work when you call.
What does F3E3 mean on a laundry tower?
The washer section is reporting the water inlet temperature sensor. Make sure the hoses are not swapped, reset the power for 5 minutes, and schedule service if the code returns, since the sensor circuit then needs testing.
My older top-load shows F3E3. Is it worth fixing?
These older top-loads remain in plenty of homes, and we work on them regularly. We test first, give a written price, and tell you plainly when repair makes little sense for the washer's age and condition.
Still seeing F3E3?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
