What F2 E2 means
Owners of Whirlpool front-load washers in the Duet and WFW family, including the WFW5620HW, the WFW9150WW and the WFW90HEFW, may see F2 E2 when the washer halts a cycle. The direction for it is limited to a power reset of 5 minutes, and the display does not name any sensor or part. We therefore treat F2 E2 as a control-level stop. The drum does not carry on until power has been cycled.
Common causes of F2 E2
- A control stop that a full power reset can clear
- A recurring condition in the control or its wiring
- A loose plug or an outlet that drops out
1. Pull the plug and give the washer 5 minutes with no power. 2. Plug it back in firmly. 3. Close the door and start a normal cycle. 4. If F2 E2 comes back, stop resetting and book a visit.
- A reset only shows whether the stop was a one-off.
- If F2 E2 returns, the control and its connections need testing.
- We quote the work in writing first, and tell you plainly if a repair is not worth it on an older washer.
Other Washer codes
Is F2 E2 an emergency?
No. The washer stops itself and waits. A 5-minute unplug is the one step to try, and your clothes are safe in the drum meanwhile.
Will the wet clothes be ruined?
No, but do not leave them for days. Once the washer works again, run a Drain & Spin or rinse so they do not turn musty.
What happens at the visit?
We read the washer, test the control and its connections, explain what we find in plain words, and give you a written price before we do anything.
Still seeing F2 E2?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
