What F1 E2 means
On Whirlpool front-load washers in the Duet and WFW family, including the WFW5620HW and WFW90HEFW, F1 E2 comes with a single instruction: cycle power to the control to reset the washer. Nothing in that instruction names a sensor, a circuit or a part, so the display alone cannot say what stopped the washer or whether it will happen again. You see F1 E2 and the cycle will not continue. Older and current front-loaders show it the same way.
Common causes of F1 E2
- A control that stopped and clears when power is removed
- A repeat condition in the control or its wiring after the reset
- A weak outlet or a plug that does not seat well
1. Pull the washer plug and wait a full 5 minutes without pressing any buttons. 2. Push the plug in firmly. 3. Shut the door and choose a cycle. 4. If F1 E2 shows up again, do not keep resetting it over and over; arrange service so the control can be tested instead.
- A reset is a test, and it will not tell us which part of the control raised F1 E2.
- If it recurs, we trace it from the control board outward.
- We quote in writing first, and say plainly if an older washer is not worth it.
Other Washer codes
What should I try first for F1 E2?
Unplug the washer for 5 minutes, plug it back in and start a cycle. That reset is the only owner step the code calls for, and it costs nothing to try.
Can I use the washer if F1 E2 clears?
Yes, but watch for a repeat. If the code returns, a visit is better than running cycles that stop partway through and leave your clothes wet.
Do you service older Duet washers?
Yes. They are still in many homes and we repair them. We give a written price first, and we tell you plainly when a repair is not worth the money.
Still seeing F1 E2?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
