What F0E5 means
F0E5 is an off-balance load message. It appears on the Whirlpool all-in-one washer-dryer WFC8090GX, on stacked laundry centers, on front-load Duet and WFW washers and on top-load HE washers such as the WTW5000DW. The load is too large or sits unevenly, so the washer spins slower, the cycle runs longer and clothes can come out dripping. If the load is not dripping, no action is needed. On a compact ventless laundry tower the guidance is only a power reset.
Common causes of F0E5
- A tightly packed load or one bulky item washed alone
- Heavy items bunched on one side of the drum
- A washer that is not level, which we check if the load was fine
- A compact ventless tower control that needs a reset
1. If the clothes are not dripping, no action is needed; the cycle just took longer to balance. 2. If they are dripping, remove a few items and run Drain & Spin. 3. Top-load: cancel the cycle, run a drain-only cycle if water is present, then rearrange the load. 4. Wash a bulky item together with a few others, never alone. 5. Compact tower: unplug for 5 minutes, then plug in.
- If F0E5 repeats with small, even loads, leveling, suspension or the sensing needs a look.
- We watch how the drum behaves through a spin before replacing anything.
- Written price first, and an honest word if an older washer is not worth fixing.

Do I need a repair when F0E5 appears?
Often not. If the clothes are not dripping, the washer simply took longer to balance the load. If they are, redistribute them and run Drain & Spin.
Why does washing one rug or jacket trigger it?
A single bulky item cannot spread evenly around the drum. Adding a few other items balances it and lets the washer reach its spin speed.
When does F0E5 mean a service visit?
When it keeps coming back with small, evenly loaded washes, or the machine rocks hard. We inspect it, explain the cause, and quote before any work.
Still unsure about F0E5?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
