What F0E2 means
F0E2 means the washer detected excessive suds. On Whirlpool front-load washers (Duet and WFW series, including the WFW5620HW and WFW9150WW) it starts an automatic suds reduction routine, and you may see Sud or Sd with the Rinse light. The all-in-one washer-dryer WFC8090GX runs a similar routine and wants a Clean Washer cycle afterward. Compact ventless laundry towers pause tumbling and add rinse water until the bubbles break. Top-load HE washers such as the WTW5000DW may finish with wetter clothes and extra rinses. Stacked laundry centers may spin slower.
Common causes of F0E2
- Detergent that is not high-efficiency, or too much of it for the load
- A soap film built up in the drum and tub from long use
- A very small or lightly soiled load that did not need a full dose
- Drainage or rinse behavior, which we check if suds are not the cause
1. Let the cycle continue; the washer is working the suds down and may add extra rinses. 2. Use only high-efficiency detergent from now on. 3. Measure the dose by load size and soil level, using less for small loads. 4. When the cycle ends, run a Rinse/Spin if the clothes feel soapy and then run a Clean Washer cycle with the washer empty.
- If F0E2 returns with the correct detergent and amount, something other than dose is in play and we look at it.
- We check the drain path and the water level sensing because they change how suds clear.
- Older machines are still in many homes; we repair them and say plainly when a repair is not worth it.

Is F0E2 a breakdown?
Usually it is a response to too much soap. The washer slows down, adds rinses and tries to break the suds on its own, so let it finish the whole cycle before you judge it.
My clothes are soaking wet after F0E2. What now?
Run a Rinse/Spin to clear the remaining suds. Heavy sudsing can limit spin speed, so wet loads are expected until the soap is rinsed out.
What if it keeps happening with HE detergent?
Then the dose, a hard build-up inside the tub or the sensing itself may be involved. We inspect the washer, explain the likely cause plainly, and quote the work in writing first.
