What 1h, 2h, 3h....up to 12h means
A number from 1 up to 12 followed by the letter h on a Whirlpool front-load washer, such as the WFW5620HW, WFW9150WW or WFW90HEFW, is not an error. It means Delay Wash is active and the washer will start after that many hours. Some models allow up to 8 hours and others up to 12. The display counts down each hour until it reaches 0h and the washer begins. The Delay Wash light stays on until the cycle starts, and this holds for current and older front-load generations.
Common causes of 1h, 2h, 3h....up to 12h
- Delay Wash set with the plus or minus button
- Button tapped by mistake when the power came on
- Delay left from an earlier load
- Wash cycle not starting because the delay is still counting
1. Read the number on the display: 4h means the cycle starts in about four hours. 2. To change it, tap the plus or minus button, which moves the time by one hour. 3. Press Start to confirm the delay you want. 4. To remove the delay, turn the washer off and set the cycle again without it. 5. Wait for the Delay Wash light to go out when the cycle begins.
- If the washer ignores the buttons or the countdown never moves, the control needs a look
- A washer that does not start at 0h is a different problem and we test it
- The price is in writing first and our repair has a 30-day workmanship warranty

Is 3h a washer error?
No. It is the Delay Wash countdown, set to start the cycle in three hours. The number drops each hour until the display reaches 0h and the washer begins its cycle.
How do I change or cancel the delay?
Tap the plus or minus button near the display to change the hours, then press Start. To cancel, turn the washer off and begin the cycle again without a delay.
What if the washer never starts after the countdown?
Then the delay is working but something stops the cycle from beginning, such as water or the door. We test the washer, quote in writing, and repair it with a 30-day workmanship warranty.
