What DEN means

DEN on a Whirlpool washer means the unit is in Store Demo Mode. The guidance does not name a series. A dealer sets this mode so shoppers can see how the washer operates on a showroom floor, and the washer functions and shows its operation while it is on. If a washer arrived from a dealer's floor with the mode left on, it has to be taken out of Store Demo Mode before normal use. The code is not a breakdown, and the washer is not damaged.

Is DEN a failure in the washer?

No. It tells you the washer is in Store Demo Mode, which shows how the machine operates without being a failure. Turning the mode off returns it to normal use.

How do I turn demo mode on or off?

Hold the Program and Options buttons together for three seconds. A countdown appears as you hold. The same hold turns the mode off, so you can use it in either direction.
