What PowerLoss means
PowerLoss, or a plain Time or 12:00, appears on Whirlpool built-in wall ovens, such as the WOS51EC0HS or WOD51EC0HS, and on freestanding and slide-in ranges, such as the WFE515S0ES or WFG525S0HV, when power returns after an interruption or outage. It is a prompt, not an error: the clock lost its setting. Pressing Cancel clears the display, and then you set the time of day. The appliance itself is normally fine.
Common causes of PowerLoss
- Power interruption or outage at the house
- Breaker switched off and back on
- Clock simply needing to be set again
1. Press Cancel to clear PowerLoss from the display. 2. Set the time of day, following your Owner's Manual. 3. Check that the clock now shows the correct time. 4. Run a short, normal oven setting to confirm it works. 5. If PowerLoss appears again with no outage, note when it happens.
- If PowerLoss returns when the power was not interrupted, something is dropping out that we need to find
- That can mean a loose supply connection, a breaker issue or a control that resets itself, and we test each in order
- We give a written price first, and you do not need to open anything

Is PowerLoss a serious error?
No. It tells you power was interrupted and the clock needs setting. Press Cancel, set the time, and carry on. It becomes worth a call only if it keeps coming back without a real outage.
Why did it appear when the lights never went out?
A brief dip, a tripped breaker or a switched-off breaker can reset the clock without you noticing. If it happens often, we test the supply and the control to learn why.
Do you service older ovens with repeating PowerLoss?
Yes. Older wall ovens and ranges are in many Houston homes, and we repair them. We quote in writing first, back our work with 30 days, and say plainly if a repair is not worth it.
Still unsure about PowerLoss?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
