What F04 means
Some Whirlpool freestanding and slide-in ranges, such as the WFG515S0ES, and built-in wall ovens such as the WOD51EC0HS or WOS72EC7HS, display F04 when the electronic oven control reports a problem. Only a power reset is published. The control and the wiring that feeds it are the two items named. Compared with F03 it is the same area of the oven, and we cannot honestly separate them from the display alone. The oven may refuse to cook while the code is on, and you will see it on the display until the control is reset or repaired.
Common causes of F04
- Electronic oven control board
- Wiring harness to the control
- Connector seating
1. Let the oven cool, then turn off its circuit breaker. 2. Wait for one full minute. 3. Turn the breaker back on. 4. Look at the display for one minute for another F04. 5. Confirm the oven runs normally by starting a short bake and watching the display for any return of the code.
- Which exact part is behind F04 stays uncertain after a reset, so we test the control and the wiring
- We avoid swapping the control until the wiring is proven good
- The cost is stated in writing before the repair begins
Other Range codes
Is F04 serious?
It means the oven control is flagging itself or its wiring, and the oven may not cook. It is not a gas or fire warning, but it should not be ignored if it returns.
What does your visit look like for a wall oven?
We take the oven out of use, test the control and its connections, and show you what we found. You approve the written price before we repair.
How long may an older oven keep working with this code?
We cannot predict that. If F04 returns after a reset, the safest course is to leave the oven off and call us, especially for an older model.
Still seeing F04?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
