What F3E2 means
F3E2 shows on Whirlpool ranges, such as the WFG525S0HV, with a slightly longer list than wall ovens get. The range guidance names the oven temperature sensor, the warming drawer sensor if the range has one, and the wiring. Built-in wall ovens, such as the WOC54EC7HS, carry the same code with the oven sensor, the control board and the wiring. Either way the oven is questioning a temperature reading, and you may see the code, no preheating, or a warming drawer that does not respond.
Common causes of F3E2
- Oven temperature sensor reading
- Warming drawer sensor, on ranges that have the drawer
- Wiring or connector at either sensor
- Control on a wall oven, or on a range if sensors test fine
1. Let the oven and any drawer cool, then push them fully closed. 2. Switch the breaker off and keep it off for sixty seconds. 3. Switch it back on. 4. Keep an eye on the display for a minute in case F3E2 returns. 5. Try a short bake, and the warming drawer if you have one.
- A reset cannot say whether the oven sensor or the drawer sensor is the one reading wrongly
- If F3E2 returns we test both sensors and their wiring, then tell you plainly what we found
- The price is in writing before any work
Other Range codes
My range has no warming drawer. Does F3E2 still apply?
Yes. The guidance says the drawer sensor only if the range is so equipped, so in your case it points at the oven sensor and the wiring, and we test those first.
Why does a drawer sensor trigger an oven code?
The control watches all its temperature inputs. A reading that looks impossible from any of them can raise a code, even if the oven itself heats normally.
Is it safe to bake while the code is gone?
If the oven heats and holds temperature normally, yes, but watch for the code returning. If it does, call us and we will test the sensors and wiring on site.
Still seeing F3E2?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
