WGD4700YQ
Whirlpool WGD4700YQ 29-Inch Gas Dryer Repair
Most common issues on this model
- Igniter and gas valve coil tests
- Flame holding for the full cycle
- Gas supply and shutoff valve
- Vent restriction and lint buildup
- Belt, idler and drum rollers
The WGD4700YQ is a Whirlpool gas dryer, 29 inches wide, also sold as WGD4700YQ0 and WGD4700YQ1. At 29 inches it is wider than the 27-inch dryers many closets are built around, so it is more often found in a utility room or a garage laundry area with a gas line close by.
For this number, width and fuel are all we can confirm. Our approach on a gas dryer of this size is to follow the burner sequence. The igniter has to glow, the valve has to open, and the flame has to hold until the cycle ends. If the dryer runs without heat, we test them in that order. If the burner lights and then drops out, we move to the vent and the thermal cut-outs.
Before ordering parts, we copy the complete number from the plate. The price is in writing first, and the repair is guaranteed for 30 days.

Error codes this model can show
My dryer lights, then the flame goes out partway through. Why?
Restricted airflow or a failing flame sensor are the usual causes on a gas dryer. We measure the vent, then test the sensor and the thermal cut-outs.
Is a 29-inch gas dryer harder to fit in a closet?
It needs more width than the usual 27-inch unit, so these are common in utility rooms. We check clearance around the vent and gas connector so the dryer sits without kinks.
What does the digit at the end of the model number mean?
It marks the revision. WGD4700YQ0 and WGD4700YQ1 can use different parts, so we read the complete number and serial from your label and match the parts before ordering.
