What Feature Not Available or Fault Detected means
Some Whirlpool freestanding and slide-in ranges, gas or electric, such as the WFE515S0ES or WFG525S0HV, scroll a Feature Not Available message across the display while you are programming a cook cycle. The range is telling you it found a problem partway through your entry. The display also prompts you either to press Enter to try again or to disable power to clear it. The message itself does not name a part, so the cause is found by testing.
Common causes of Feature Not Available or Fault Detected
- One-time entry or control glitch while programming
- Control board response to the programmed cycle
- Wiring or sensor input read wrongly during the cycle setup
1. Press Enter when the display offers to try again. 2. If the message stays, switch the range's circuit breaker off for one minute. 3. Switch the breaker back on. 4. Start a bake cycle. 5. Watch the oven for one minute to make sure the message does not return. 6. Confirm the oven works normally.
- The message does not say which function detected the problem, so a reset cannot identify it
- If it comes back on the same cycle type, we note which cycle triggers it and test that circuit with a written price first
- Any gas smell means leaving the house and calling the gas utility from outside

What should I press when the message scrolls?
Press Enter to try again, as the display suggests. If it keeps scrolling, disable power at the breaker for one minute and restore it. Both steps are the published guidance and neither requires tools.
Does it mean the oven is dangerous?
The message means a problem was detected during programming, not that the oven is unsafe by itself. Still, if it repeats, stop using that cycle and call us. Gas smell means leave and call the utility.
Do you repair older ranges that show this?
Yes. Many Houston homes still have older Whirlpool ranges, and we work on them. We give a written price before starting, a 30-day workmanship warranty afterward, and say honestly if a repair is not worth it.
