What F03 means

F03 is an older-generation display code on Whirlpool built-in microwaves and microwave drawers, such as model WMC50522AS. The guidance says there may be a problem with the electronic oven control or the wiring connected to it. In practice the microwave stops working normally, F03 stays on the display, and buttons may seem dead. Unlike the F01 and F02 codes, F03 does not mention a sensor, so the control is the main area under suspicion.

1. Turn off the microwave's circuit breaker and wait one minute. 2. Turn it on again. 3. Monitor the oven for one minute to ensure F03 does not return. 4. Verify oven operation with a short cycle. 5. If it comes back, stop and call us.

What is the electronic oven control?

It is the control that runs the microwave: it reads the keypad, door and sensors and switches the heating. F03 means the guidance points to it or its wiring.

Is F03 the same as F04?

The guidance for F03 and F04 is identical, so the display does not separate them. We test the same control and connections for either. The code itself gives no reason to prefer one over the other.
