Sabbath, Sab, 5Ab or 5A6 on a Whirlpool built-in microwave or microwave drawer, such as WMC50522AS, means Sabbath Mode is enabled. In this mode only the Bake cycle runs, and it stays on until you turn it off. No tones sound, the displays do not show temperature changes, and the oven light and heating elements do not respond right away when the door opens or closes. Most other modes and features are disabled. It is a setting and not a failure.

No. It is a deliberate mode in which only the Bake cycle runs and most features are off. It stays on until you cancel it.

Why is my microwave silent and not showing temperatures?

In Sabbath Mode tones are off and the displays do not show temperature changes. Cancel the mode to restore normal behavior. The silence and the unchanged display are part of the design, and they end as soon as the mode is turned off.

How do I cancel it?

Use the cancel method in your owner's manual for your model. We do not suggest button combinations from here, because they differ. If the mode will not cancel after following the manual, call us and we will test the keypad.
