What F3E4 means
F3E4 on a Whirlpool freestanding or slide-in range, such as the WFE515S0ES or WFG525S0HV, calls for one check first: make sure the meat probe is pushed fully into its receptacle, since the location varies. On built-in wall ovens, such as the WOD51EC0HS, the same code can come from the meat probe or, on some models, from a power attachment on a roll-out rack that has come unplugged. If neither explains it, the usual breaker reset applies.
Common causes of F3E4
- Meat probe not seated in its receptacle
- Roll-out rack power attachment unplugged, on wall ovens with one
- Probe jack or connector worn or dirty
- Control reading the probe input wrongly
1. Remove the meat probe, then push it firmly all the way into its receptacle; check the owner's manual for where it sits on your oven. 2. On a wall oven with a roll-out rack, check the power attachment is in the right place and push the rack firmly in until you hear a tone. 3. Turn the breaker off for one minute, then back on. 4. Watch the display for one minute. 5. Verify operation with a short cycle.
- If the probe and the rack seat correctly and F3E4 still returns, the probe jack or the control input needs testing
- We check the probe and its connector for wear, which an owner cannot judge by eye
- A written price comes first, and the 30-day workmanship warranty covers the work
Other Range codes
I was not using the meat probe. Why F3E4?
The code can appear if the probe is plugged in or lying in the oven without being seated, or if the connector is worn. Remove the probe and check its receptacle before the reset.
What is the power attachment on a wall oven?
Some wall ovens have a roll-out rack with a power attachment that can come unplugged. Push the rack firmly in until a tone sounds, as the guidance says.
Will F3E4 stop normal baking?
Possibly for a probe-based cycle, and sometimes for any cycle until the code is cleared. If seating the probe and a reset do not help, we test the circuit.

A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
