What F1-A means
The display of Whirlpool freestanding and slide-in ranges such as the WFE515S0ES and WFG525S0HV can read F1-A. The guidance is a power reset, together with three areas to look at: the oven door latch, the door lock switch and the connecting wiring. The oven is therefore saying that the lock side of its door is not reporting properly. The code is shown on the display, and cycles that rely on the door lock, such as cleaning, may not run.
Common causes of F1-A
- Oven door latch
- Door lock switch
- Wiring to the latch and switch
1. Push the oven door shut and look for anything keeping it from closing fully. 2. At the household panel, cut power to the range for sixty seconds. 3. Restore power and keep an eye on the display for a minute. 4. Bake something simple to see that the oven behaves normally.
- A reset does not show whether the latch, the lock switch or the wiring is weak
- We watch the latch move and test the switch contacts before replacing anything
- The price is quoted in writing before work, and a cleaning cycle should wait until the lock is checked
Other Range codes
How does F1-A compare with F1-C?
The guidance names the same door parts for both and gives the same reset. We cannot say how they differ, so we test the range on site.
Will the door stay locked?
We cannot tell. If the door seems stuck shut or will not close, do not force it. Switch the range off at the breaker and call us.
Can I run a self-clean cycle with this code?
We advise against it, since cleaning relies on the door lock. Have the lock circuit checked first so the cycle does not leave the door in the wrong state.
Still seeing F1-A?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
