What 4d11 means

If a Whirlpool freestanding or slide-in range such as the WFE515S0ES shows 4D11, the control is questioning the oven door latch assembly, the door switch, or the wiring between them. These parts tell the oven whether the door is shut and locked. When their signal looks wrong, the oven may refuse to start a cycle or stop one, and 4D11 stays on the display.

Common causes of 4d11

  • The oven door latch assembly
  • The door switch
  • Wiring and plugs serving the latch and switch
✓ One safe check you can try

1. Close the oven door fully and check nothing sits in the way of it. 2. Turn off the range's breaker for one full minute. 3. Turn it back on. 4. Watch the display for a minute and try a short bake. 5. If 4D11 returns, stop using the oven and call us.

! Why to stop there
  • The latch and switch work as a pair, and a reset does not tell us which one disagrees.
  • We test the switch signal and look at the latch movement with the range powered down.
  • The price is written before work, and a 30-day workmanship warranty covers the repair.
Opening a panel yourself does not automatically cancel a manufacturer warranty, but it can cause accidental damage, and some manufacturers set their own service conditions. Check your warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

4d114d11 questions
Why would the door matter for 4D11?

The control only heats when it sees the door closed and, for some cycles, locked. If the latch or switch signal is off, it stops the cycle and posts a code.

Does a door that looks closed still cause 4D11?

Yes. A switch that is worn or slightly out of position can read open even when the door looks shut. We test the signal, not just the door.

Can I force the door shut?

Please do not force anything. A stuck latch should be looked at by us. Forcing it can damage the latch. Describe what the door feels like when you call us.
