What Control Lock means
On a Whirlpool portable dishwasher, Control Lock prevents unintended use between cycles, and also stops cycle and option changes during a cycle. A red lock indicator shows the lock is on, and the control panel cannot be used while it is. It is a setting, not a breakdown. To turn it on or off, press and hold the buttons designated for your model for 3 seconds.
Common causes of Control Lock
- Control Lock turned on by holding the lock buttons
- The panel in Sleep Mode when you try to unlock
- If the lock will not release: the touch panel
1. Find the lock buttons for your model in the owner's manual. 2. Press and hold them for 3 seconds. The lock indicator light should turn off. 3. If nothing happens, wake the panel first by pressing Start/Resume or Cancel, or by opening and closing the door. 4. Hold the lock buttons again for 3 seconds. 5. Start a cycle to confirm.
- If the lock indicator stays on after Sleep Mode is cleared and the 3-second hold, the panel may not be registering presses.
- We test the buttons and the control.
- You see the written price first, and we say plainly if a portable dishwasher is not worth repairing.
