Whirlpool WRS321CDBM Side-by-Side Dispenser Repair

Whirlpool refrigerator

Most common issues on this model

  1. Dispenser water flow and the filter seating inside the fresh-food section
  2. Ice maker output and the ice chute
  3. Water inlet valve and tubing behind the cabinet
  4. Freezer evaporator fan and defrost drain

The WRS321CDBM is a 33-inch side-by-side refrigerator with an external ice and water dispenser and an internal filter reached from the fresh-food section. It comes in black and stainless, and the fridge usually stands in a standard cabinet opening with its supply line running to a valve behind the kitchen wall.

With a dispenser on the front, most of the service calls we see on this layout involve water or ice delivery. We check the filter and its housing for a restriction or drip, the inlet valve for steady flow, and the line that runs to the door. When ice is slow, we also look at the freezer: the ice maker, the chute and whether a frosted evaporator is cutting airflow. Door gaskets on both sections close the check.

Revisions share the number, so we record the whole rating sticker before we buy a part. A written estimate is given before work, and workmanship is guaranteed for 30 days.

WRS321CDBMWRS321CDBM questions
The water from my WRS321CDBM dispenser runs slowly. Why?

The filter is the most common cause because a clogged cartridge limits flow. After that we test the inlet valve, the tubing and any freeze-up in the line, comparing flow before and after the filter.

Where is the filter on this refrigerator?

It is inside the fresh-food section rather than in the grille at the bottom. If water collects near it, we inspect the housing seal and the cartridge seat first.

The dispenser makes water but ice is slow. What do you check?

We check the ice maker and the chute, the fill to the ice maker and the freezer airflow. A frosted evaporator or a partly frozen fill line often explains slow or small ice.
