What Sabbath Mode means
Sabbath Mode is a setting on Whirlpool bottom-freezer refrigerators such as the WRB322DMBM and WRB329DFBM, and the word Sabbath lights on the display when it is on. It is not an error. The freezer and refrigerator set points stay as they were, and the mode saves energy while keeping food fresh. While it is active, the dispenser does not work, the temperature set points cannot be changed, and the interior lighting and control panels are inactive, which can look like a problem when it is only the mode.
Common causes of Sabbath Mode
- Mode switched on by accident or left on after a holiday
- Control panel touched while cleaning
- Another household member turned it on without telling you
- Expectation that the dispenser and lights should work as usual
1. Look for the word Sabbath on the display. 2. Press and hold the Mode button for three seconds. 3. Each hold moves between Sabbath, Vacation and normal use, so release and check the display. 4. Repeat the hold until the display shows normal use. 5. Check that the dispenser, lights and temperature settings respond again.
- If the word Sabbath is off but the dispenser or lights still do not work, something else is going on
- A refrigerator that stays warm in this mode needs testing, since the set points are meant to be unchanged
- We give a written price before work and cover repairs with a 30-day workmanship warranty

Why is my dispenser not working?
If the word Sabbath is lit, that is the reason. The mode turns the dispenser off. Hold the Mode button for three seconds until the display returns to normal use.
Does Sabbath Mode change my temperature?
No. The freezer and refrigerator set points remain unchanged in this mode, and the mode is meant to keep food fresh while saving energy. You simply cannot change the settings until you leave it.
What if the mode will not turn off?
Hold the Mode button for the full three seconds and check the display after each hold, since it cycles through three modes. If it still will not leave Sabbath, we test the control.
