What F0E1 means
F0E1 on a Whirlpool induction cooktop such as the WCI55US0JS is a cookware message. Induction works only with ferromagnetic pans: enameled steel, cast iron, or stainless steel made for induction cooking. A magnet that grabs the base is the quick test. Some pans are only partly magnetic or have a base that does not match the zone, and those can make the cooktop show F0E1 and stop heating.
Common causes of F0E1
- Pan made of a material that is not suitable for induction
- Pan with only part of the bottom in magnetic metal
- Pan base that does not match the diameter of the cooking zone
- Zone that cannot detect a suitable pan
1. Turn the zone off and set the pan aside. 2. Hold a magnet against the bottom of the pan to see whether it is magnetic. 3. Place a flat pan with a fully magnetic base centered on the zone. 4. Restart the zone. 5. If F0E1 stays, shut off the breaker for one minute and try again.
- If a magnetic pan still brings up F0E1 on every zone, we test how the cooktop senses cookware.
- We try known-good pans on each zone to see if one coil is behind it.
- The price is written before work starts, and we give a 30-day workmanship warranty on repairs.

How do I know whether my pan is the issue?
Test it with a magnet. If the magnet does not stick firmly to the base, the pan will not work on induction, and F0E1 is the cooktop's way of telling you so.
Why would a pan that sticks to a magnet still fail?
Only part of its base may be magnetic, or the base diameter may not match the zone. Those pans heat unevenly or not at all.
What if all my pans fail?
Then the detection is the suspect. We check how the zone senses cookware instead of blaming your pans, and we test it with known-good ones.
