Ice Maker Repair in Houston
Whirlpool ice makers, whether built into a refrigerator or a stand-alone unit, can stop making ice, produce small or cloudy cubes, or leak. We find out whether the cause is water, cold or the mechanism.

Whirlpool ice makers sit inside the freezer of many of its refrigerators and also come as undercounter and countertop units. All of them depend on a water line, a fill valve, a mold or tray, a heater or motor that releases the cubes, and a bin sensor that tells the machine when to stop.
Water is the main wear factor in Houston homes. Mineral scale narrows the fill tube and clouds the valve screen, a clogged filter chokes the flow, and a freezer running too warm produces slush instead of cubes. Humidity also freezes the tube shut when the door is left ajar.
We start with the water supply and freezer temperature, then check the fill valve, mold, harvest mechanism and bin sensor. On an older refrigerator we will say plainly whether an ice maker repair is sensible or whether the whole unit is near the end of its useful life.

Why did my ice maker stop making ice?
It needs three things: cold enough air, a steady water supply and a working harvest mechanism. A frozen fill tube, a clogged water filter, a weak valve or a worn motor module can each stop it. We check the supply and the freezer temperature first.
Why is my ice small or cloudy?
Small cubes often point to low water flow, usually from a clogged filter or partly closed valve. Cloudy ice can come from minerals in the water or from air trapped as it freezes. Replacing the filter on schedule is the first step.
How often should the water filter be changed?
Follow the interval in the owner's manual or on the filter indicator, commonly about every six months. A filter left in place longer slows the water, which leads to small cubes and a strained fill valve, and it can affect taste as well.
