What Power Level Lower Than Level Requested means
If a Whirlpool induction cooktop heats at a lower level than the one you chose, a power regulator is the first thing to consider. It limits the power levels to the maximum value set for the cooktop, and it sets a minimum so a cooking zone can always be used. Depending on that setting, some levels and functions, such as boil or quick reheating, can be limited automatically to stay under the limit.
Common causes of Power Level Lower Than Level Requested
- The cooktop's maximum power setting is below what you expect
- Several zones are running at once and the total is being limited
- A limited function such as boil or quick reheating
1. Think about which function you are using and how many zones are on. 2. Turn off a zone you do not need and see if the other rises. 3. Within 60 seconds of connecting power, press the timer plus button for at least 5 seconds until the display shows PL. 4. Press OK until the last level appears, choose a level with plus and minus, then confirm with OK. 5. See your owner's manual.
- If the power is limited on a single zone at a proper setting, the limit may be wrong or a sensor may be misreading.
- We check the cooktop's configured maximum and the zone's behavior.
- The price is written before work, and we say plainly when an older cooktop is not worth repairing.
Other Cooktop codes
Why is my induction zone not as hot as the level I picked?
The power regulator limits levels to the maximum set for the cooktop, so some zones or functions can be held back when several are running.
Can I raise the cooktop's power limit?
On models with the timer menu, the PL setting lets you change it within 60 seconds of connecting power. It depends on your home's supply, so check your manual first.
Does a lower level mean something is broken?
Usually not. It is the power limit working as set. If a single zone stays weak, we test it.
