What Sabbath, Sab, 5Ab, or 5A7 means
When a Whirlpool built-in wall oven, such as the WOD51EC0HS or WOC54EC7HS, shows Sabbath, Sab, 5Ab or 5A7, Sabbath Mode is switched on. The oven remains in a Bake setting until turned off, and several features go quiet: the 12-hour shutoff, tones and chimes, timers, cooktop lockout and energy save on some models. All keys are disabled except Start, Cancel and Off. This display is a status, not a failure.
Common causes of Sabbath, Sab, 5Ab, or 5A7
- Sabbath Mode set on purpose
- Sabbath Mode activated by accident
- A keypad that does not respond when you try to leave the mode
1. Read the display to confirm it says Sabbath, Sab, 5Ab or 5A7. 2. Press Cancel or Off, as these are among the keys that stay active. 3. Check the Sabbath Mode section of your owner's manual for the way to turn the mode off. 4. Once it is off, try a short bake.
- If the code stays after the manual's steps, we check whether the keys register at all.
- A touchpad that cannot cancel the mode needs a test of the pad and the control.
- We write the price down before work, and the repair carries a 30-day workmanship warranty.
Other Wall Oven codes
Does 5A7 mean something different from 5Ab?
Both are ways the display writes Sabbath Mode on different controls. The meaning is the same: the oven is in its Bake-only holiday setting, and normal functions are paused.
Why are my timer and tones silent?
Timers and tones are among the features disabled in this mode. They return when you turn Sabbath Mode off, so they are not damaged. No repair is needed for that silence.
Do you repair older wall ovens that will not leave Sabbath Mode?
Yes. These ovens are still in many homes. We test the pad first and tell you honestly if a repair makes little sense. A worn keypad is the usual reason the mode will not release.
Still unsure about Sabbath, Sab, 5Ab, or 5A7?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
