What F1 E6 means
On Whirlpool built-in wall ovens with a microwave section, for example the WOC54EC7HS, F1 E6 refers to the microwave thermistor or sensor, or the wiring that carries its signal. The oven does not say whether the sensor, its connection, or something else is behind the code. You will see F1 E6 on the display, and microwave cooking may be blocked until the code is cleared or the cause is found.
Common causes of F1 E6
- Microwave thermistor or temperature sensor
- Sensor connector or harness wiring
- Control reading the sensor signal
1. Cut power to the oven at its panel breaker and let a full minute pass. 2. Restore the breaker. 3. Keep the display in view for sixty seconds, looking for F1 E6. 4. Run a quick oven test and a quick microwave test if the display stays clean.
- Clearing F1 E6 does not show whether the sensor reading was wrong or the wiring was loose.
- We check the sensor circuit and the connection before we suggest any part.
- If the sensor reads normally, we move on to the control that interprets it.
Other Wall Oven codes
What does the microwave thermistor do?
It reports a temperature to the oven's control so the microwave section can run safely. When the control cannot read it properly, it posts F1 E6 and may stop the microwave from running.
Will the regular oven still bake with F1 E6?
Sometimes it will, since the code names the microwave side. Do not count on it, though. If the display keeps locking up, we check how the whole oven responds.
Why does a reset sometimes fix it?
A brief power loss can let the control restart and read the sensor fresh. If F1 E6 returns, the cause is still there, and we trace it rather than keep resetting.
