Do you repair central air or mini-split systems?
No. We work on plug-in window and portable units only. Ducted central systems and mini-splits involve refrigerant lines and electrical connections that need a licensed HVAC contractor, and we will tell you when we hear that your system is that type.
Why is my window unit freezing up?
Restricted airflow from a dirty filter or coil, a low refrigerant charge or running it in cool, humid weather can all freeze the coil. Turn it off and let it thaw, clean the filter and see whether it returns. If it does, we inspect it.
Is it worth repairing an old window unit?
Often not, since new units are inexpensive compared with a sealed-system repair. A fan motor, a capacitor or a thermostat can be reasonable to fix. We tell you the likely cost and whether replacement is the wiser choice.
