What Demo Mode means
Demo Mode is not an error. On a Whirlpool built-in wall oven with a touch control, such as the WOD51EC0HS, it lets you try the oven's features and explore options without turning on the heating elements. The display shows the time while the mode is active. If your oven looks normal but will not heat, Demo Mode may have been switched on, in a showroom or by accident.
Common causes of Demo Mode
- Store Demo Mode left on
- The oven moved from a display model or a showroom setting
- Mode switched on by touching the control menu
1. Choose Try the Product on the display. 2. Scroll and select Explore. 3. Touch the Tools keypad, scroll to INFO, then select Store Demo Mode. 4. Choose OFF and confirm by selecting YES on the confirmation screen. 5. Start a short bake and check that the oven now heats.
- Menu names can differ slightly between control layouts, so we follow what your screen shows.
- If the mode turns off and the oven still will not heat, something else is going on.
- We then test the heating circuit and give a written price.

Is Demo Mode a problem with my oven?
No, it is a feature meant for showrooms. It keeps the heating elements off while the display and menus keep working. Turning it off returns normal cooking.
Why does the display show only the time?
In Demo Mode the screen shows the time until you open the Tools menu. That can look like a dead oven, but the controls are working.
What if I cannot find the Store Demo Mode setting?
Look under INFO in the Tools menu. If it is missing or the oven still will not heat after you turn it off, call us and we check the control.
Still unsure about Demo Mode?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
