What PUSH or PSH means
On Whirlpool built-in wall ovens in single, double and microwave-combination styles, such as the WOS51EC0HS, PUSH or PSH is a prompt rather than an error. It appears when you have set an oven function but have not pressed Start within about five seconds. If Start is still not pressed after roughly a minute, the function is canceled and the clock returns to the display.
Common causes of PUSH or PSH
- Start pad not pressed after choosing a function
- Start pad that is slow to respond
- Touchpad trouble when PUSH appears even after pressing Start
1. Set the function again and press Start right away. 2. Check that the Start pad is dry and clean, and press it firmly. 3. If the prompt still shows, turn the oven's circuit breaker off for one minute and back on. 4. Watch the display for a minute and then try a short bake.
- If PUSH stays even though you pressed Start, the pad may not be registering.
- We test the touchpad response before judging the control.
- We give a written price first, and the repair has our 30-day workmanship warranty.

Does PUSH mean something is broken?
Not by itself. It simply reminds you to press Start. If you press Start every time and PUSH still returns, that is when the touchpad is worth checking.
Why did my function disappear?
Without Start within about a minute the oven cancels the function and shows the time of day. Set it again and press Start straight away.
Is PSH the same as PUSH?
Yes. Some displays have room for only three characters, so PSH is how the same prompt is shown there. The prompt means the same thing either way, so just press Start.
Still unsure about PUSH or PSH?
A technician diagnoses it on site and gives you the price in writing before any work starts.
