Water Heater Repair in Houston

Whirlpool water heaters can run out of hot water, leak, smell or make noise. We repair the appliance; gas lines and new installs that need a licensed plumber are referred to one.

01What goes wrong

Common water heater problems we fix

In the order we see them across Houston homes.

01

No hot water or only lukewarm water

02

Water runs hot, then cold quickly

03

Popping or rumbling from the tank

04

Water pooling around the base

05

Rotten-egg smell from hot water

06

Pilot light will not stay lit

Whirlpool water heaters in this area are typically tank models, gas or electric, with a heating element or burner, a thermostat, a temperature and pressure relief valve, an anode rod and a drain valve. Many heaters sit in garages or closets, where leaks and heat damage go unseen.

Hard water forms scale on the elements and sediment in the tank, which cuts efficiency and causes popping noises. Gas units are affected by dust and moisture in the burner area, and heaters that sit in hot garages or near the coast corrode sooner. A tank past ten to fifteen years is more likely to fail than to be repaired.

We check power or gas ignition, the thermostat, elements or burner and the valves, and we examine the tank for leaks. Because gas lines, venting and new installations call for a licensed plumber, we repair what we can and refer the rest.

05Water Heater questions
Why do I have no hot water?

A tripped breaker, a failed heating element, a bad thermostat or, on a gas heater, a pilot or thermocouple problem is the usual cause. We test the power or gas ignition first. A leaking tank cannot be repaired and needs replacing.

What should I do if my water heater is leaking?

Turn off the power or gas and the cold-water supply to the heater, then book a visit. A leak from a fitting or valve can be repaired, but one from the tank itself means the tank has failed and will need to be replaced.

Do you replace or install water heaters?

We repair the heater itself. Gas line work, venting changes, new plumbing connections and installations that need a licensed plumber are handled by one. We will tell you which parts we can do and which require a plumber.
